HAPPY TAILS

Phoenix

Phoenix came to me through an angel who cared enough about his abuse and his condition to contact a rescue who contacted me. By the time he reached me, he was emaciated, dehydrated, abused and probably wouldn't have lived much longer. He was kicked by the person who had him and ended up with nerve damage. He had no control over his bowels or bladder and did not have the ability to wag his tail. He needed fluid injections, vitamins, good food and lots and lots of love, all of which he got while he lived here with me. I called him my "beautiful boy" and loved him with my whole heart. When his condition improved, I took him for acupunture treatments to attempt to heal the nerve damage. After 5 treatments and lots of medical bills, there was very little improvement. I called him my "million dollar dog". The first time I saw a small wag from his tail I sobbed like a baby.

I was contacted by someone interested in adopting Phoenix and after lots of e-mails and phone calls, I made the 6 hour trip to deliver him to his new home. Letting him go was the hardest thing I ever had to do and I cried uncontrollably for days. But I knew he was in wonderful caring hands or, believe me, I never would have let go of him. Shortly after Phoenix arrived in his new home, his mom discovered he had bladder stones. Phoenix went in for emergency surgery and friends from a doxie list all over the country kept vigilance waiting for word on Phoenix. With a break in communication of the list, in desperation, a new list was created (and still exists) in order for people to follow Phoenix's recovery. Phoenix made it through the surgery and earned his title a "million dollar dog".

After 4 years in his adoptive home, Phoenix was returned to me and is currently a member of the Brunn pack. However, on June 15, 2007, Phoenix went back to his "other mom" for a while for some special TLC.

*Note: Phoenix is also our Logo Doxie.
