OUR DOXIE FAMILY

Penny
Penny
Penny was my first "bought" Dachshund after 20 years of having a "non-doxie" house. She is the matriarch of the pack and is a very loving devoted girl. She knows when it's 8:30 p.m. and demands her evening snack by standing at the pantry and whining. How she knows when it's 8:30 p.m. every night I still haven't figured out.

Farfel

Farfel  aka  "Farty"  born 1995.
This is our psycho dog.  He was the first Dachshund I ever "rescued."

Precious

Precious a.k.a. "Pessie".   B.D. approximately 1992.
I found Precious in a shelter in July 2000. She was white faced, sickly and blind in one eye.  No one was interested in her, but I knew I found a goldmine. Her adoption fell through and she became a permanent resident here.  She is truly our Precious little girl.

Jeter

Jeter  a.k.a. "Jeter Beeter" "Bull" "Porker Boy"
B.D. June 29, 2001

Jeter was turned over to me by a woman who bought two 11 week old puppies one Sat, and by the following Sat decided they were more than she could handle. She gave both puppies to me and Jeter's sister was adopted by a family in N. Calif. Sara is barely 8lbs. Jeter, on the other hand, weighs in at 16 lbs.  He was named Jeter after Derek Jeter because I am a Yankee fan.  He's mama's big boy.

Tootsie

Tootsie Roll a.k.a. Tootsie, Tooties
Tootsie Roll was one of a litter of four. The breeder was neglectful and Tootsie's mother died after giving birth. Then one of the puppies died before a rescue could take the pups to another nursing mother to try to save them. Unfortunately, one of the three remaining pups died and then there were two. I brought Tootsie home to make sure she had a loving forever home in memory of her mother and siblings. She gets to see her brother Barnie at the Doxie picnics.

Mercedes

Mercedes
Mercedes came from a breeder who went bad. She was living in less than ideal conditions with lots of other breeding dogs, including Tootsie Roll's mother. Rescue got Mercedes and a lot of other dogs into a safer place and Mercedes came here. She is the sweetest and most affectionate doxie I've ever seen.

Maji

Maji
Maji is a beautiful standard long hair red who, at the age of 4, was living in an apt with a 75 year old lady who had dementia. Her constant barking caused the neighbors to complain so she was advertised as "smart, stubborn, poorly trained and not house broken. Free to good home." When she was brought to me it was love at first site and I couldn't part with her. She is still smart, stubborn and is only trained if she wants to be and she NEVER messes in the house. I could brag about her all day.

Abby Girl

Abby Girl
Abbey Girl was 8 1/2 years old when she was turned over to rescue. She is tiny and very nervous and skittish and was never housebroken. I have no idea what her past was like that but based on what a little scaredy cat she is, I imagine she had a pretty lousy life before settling in here with the rest of the back.
