ADOPTED!!
Simon is a 3 year old Doxie boy who was abandoned when his owners moved away and left him . Simon then spent 19 days at the local shelter before we could get him into rescue. Simon is a happy boy and loves to run on the beach! He is not a barker, loves to travel, and would probably do well as a therapy dog if given the opportunity. Simon likes other dogs, but prefers not to share his home with another male dog. He is reliably house trained if taken out on a regular basis. There is no doggy door at his foster home so we do not know if he is familiar with one. Simon loves children, but would do best with older children due to his size (small tweenie). Simon is neutered, micro chipped, and current on vaccinations.

ADOPTED!!
This is Henna. She is a 1 year old red smooth female who is in need of a new home. Unfortunately, not everyone is a doxie person and Henna is just not the right breed for her owner. The owner prefers big dogs and purchased Henna at a pet store in a weak moment while out with her grandchildren.
Henna needs a home where people love doxies, a home that can give her more time and attention and preferably an experienced doxie hme with another youngish doxie to keep Henna company. Henna is left alone a lot with a Lab mix who tolerates her but they're not friends.
Henna is spayed, up to date on shots, healthy but needs work on her housetraining. Henna also eats the fallen fruit from the fruit trees in the back yard which is not good for her.

ADOPTED!!
This is Pearl. She was born on 4/5/09 as an oops - an accidental litter. The family placed all the pups with friends and asked rescue to take Pearl and find her a good home. Pearl has a white spot on her chest which is why they named her Pearl.
She has a beautiful shiny black silky coat and weighs just under 10 lbs. She will grow up to be a tweenie.
Pearl is a typical puppy who likes to play rough, drag out shoes, chew anything she can get her teeth into as she is still a baby and is teething. We are working on Pearl's housebreaking but she's a little too young yet to get the full idea, but she will eventually. Pearl gets along with other doxies, likes to be held, and sleeps in an expen at night. Pearl has been spayed and is up to date on shots.
Pearl needs a home where someone will be home with her most of the time to supervise her. She cannot be left alone for 8 to 10 hours a day while the family goes to work or she will never get housebroken. She needs a home with a secure back yard and would like another doxie to play with as she is very energetic at this age.

ADOPTED!!
This beautiful little girl is Trudy. She is a 13 month old red smooth dapple. Her family had to give her up due to moving to an apt. At first Trudy was very shy and scared of new people in her life. But now she is hanging out with a houseful of doxies and has picked a big standard 25lb boy to be her buddy. They run and play all day long. Trudy starts out shy and skittish but warms up quickly and is very loving. She is doing great on her housebreaking as long as she is on a regular schedule. She sleeps in a crate but would prefer the big bed so she can cuddle. She is ok with well behaved young children who treat her with respect.

ADOPTED!!!
This is Auggie, a 7 year old beautiful black and white smooth piebald. He and his partner Sparty were given up by their owner because he no longer had the time to give them the attention they deserve. Auggie loves to go for walks on a leash, he does not sniff or lift his leg, he just walks. Auggie gets along with other dogs but could be adopted as an only dog because he loves the attention. He is neutered and up to date on shots.

This is Sparty, a beautiful 9 year old smooth piebald dapple boy. Sparty was given up by his owner with Auggie because he did not have the time to give him the attention he deserves. Sparty is a very sweet boy, neutered, recent teeth cleaning, and up to date on shots. Sparty gets along with other dogs, loves to go for walks and is an all around sweet boy. Sparty rides well in the car.

ADOPTED!!
This sweet little girl is Candy. Candy is one of at least 8 doxies that a breeder dumped at the local kill shelter. Rescue was lucky enough to get 7 of the 8. Candy is very very shy and God only knows what she's been through in her first year. When she first came here, I couldn't even get near her. Now she loves to be petted, allowed me to give her a bath even though she wasn't nuts about it, and will sit in my lap and let me pet her. She needs to learn to trust people so she needs a calm understanding home that will give her time to adjust. Once she does, she will be the most loving devoted little girl.
Candy is 1 year old and weighs about 10 lbs, is a bit long legged for a doxie but is a very pretty black and silver dapple with a beautiful deep brown on her face. She gets along with other dogs having been raised in a kennel. She is currently doing all her pottying outside and is using a doggie door. She's very sweet once she lets you get to know her.

Baxter is a very sweet 6 year old black and tan boy who's foster home has
kept him for a long time. However, now she is selling her house so Baxter
is looking for a new home after nearly a year. Baxter gets along with other
dogs, is very sweet and mellow and would be a great companion for a senior.

ADOPTED!!
If you prefer the true standard German doxies, Dewey (formerly known as Doobie) is the one for you! This big beautiful boy is almost 9 months old and weighs 24lbs. He is a sweet loveable puppy who is completely housebroken. He is very playful and loves toys. He rides well in a car and sleeps all night in his crate as long as he knows you are close by.
Dewey would be great with another medium size playful dog. He loves to play but is a little overwhelming for the little doxies. Dewey is up to date on shots, neutered and microchipped.

ADOPTED!!
This is wonderful Kharmen-Ghia. She is a 6 year-old, blue-eyed, double-dapple Dachshund. She was originally turned into rescue because her previous owners were unwilling to care for her. After being in rescue for a short time, it was determined that Kharmen has a condition called E.P.I. in which her pancreas does not secrete the enzymes necessary to digest food. This condition is easily managed by a sprinkle of prescription enzymes on her food or treats.
Kharmen is now ready to find a wonderful and permanent forever family.
Kharmen is house trained, mellow, loving, well-behaved and an all-around GREAT dog. She sleeps in her crate at night without complaint but would love to snuggle under your covers with you. She gets along with the doxies in her foster home and does not seem to be interested in cats. She loves people, including children and bonds very quickly to whomever she's with. She loves squeaky toys and balls but is not possesive of them. She's well behaved on the leash and in the car.
Kharmen is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccinations. Kharmen would love to find a home with a retired person or someone who works from home or, at the very least, a home with another Doxie companion to keep her company.

ADOPTED!!
This is Tippy Her family had to give her up due to military orders. She is the complete package. She is an 8 month old red smooth female. She's spayed, up to date on shots, micro chipped, good with kids and housebroken. What more could anyone ask for in a doxie? Her name is Tippy from the little white tips on the end of her tail and her feet. Tippy is very friendly and affectionate, gets along with other dogs but has not been tested with cats. She is a tad overweight for such a youngster but can easily lose weight with some exercise.

ADOPTED!!
Koko is another dog from the deceased breeder. He is a 2 year old absolutely gorgeous long hair chocolate dapple. Koko currently weighs 8.75 lbs. He's very sweet, shy and loving. He gets along with other dogs that are not aggressive to him. He is neutered, up to date on shots and will have a teeth cleaning if necessary. Koko travels well in a crate. He would love to have a home of his own, go for daily walks and receive lots of TLC. His working days are over and now he wants to be someone's pet and become a part of a family. His pictures don't do him justice. Koko was a working stud and never neutered so he needs help with his housetraining.

ADOPTED!!
Dandy is a very sweet adorable black and tan wire hair boy who came from a breeder who died leaving 26 doxies in need of rescue. I was able to take 4 of them and one went to a new forever home immediately. These dogs came from deplorable conditions and the ones I took had to be bathed and groomed immediately to rid them of knots and their stinky smell.
Since the breeder wasn't available to give us accurate information on her dogs, we are forced to estimate their ages. Dandy is 3 years old and will be neutered and up to dates on shots prior to his adoption. He will also have his teeth cleaned if the vet thinks he needs it. Dandy weighs 12lbs, gets along with other dogs that are not aggressive to him, and travels great in a crate. Dandy loves to be held and cuddled and would be happy to take walks and learn to walk on a leash.
Due to the way he was raised and not being neutered at the breeder's, Dandy needs work on his potty issues. But he's a smart boy and I'm sure he'll learn quickly. I am already teaching him how to use the doggie door. I put him out and he quickly came back in. Dandy will do well in a family with respectful children over 6 years old. He has not been tested with cats

ADOPTED!!
I'm guessing Jazzy to be between 2 and 3 years old. She is a mini black and tan wire girl weighing 9 lbs, who has been used over and over for breeding. Her working days are over and she is very happy about that. Since she came to me still having milk, we assume her puppies were taken away and sold before she or they were ready. Jazzy had some sores on her so my groomer shaved her down so the scabs could dry up. This doesn't appear to be any serious skin condition but possibly little bite marks possibly when she was being bred. She is receiving care for her sores but I think they will be all gone shortly with good care and Jazzy's beautiful coat can grow in again. Jazzy is very loving and loves to be held and carried. She begs to be picked up.
Jazzy is spayed and up to date on shots. She would be good in a home with children over 6 or 7 years old who respect her fragility. Since she lived in a kennel all her life, Jazzy needs work on her housetraining.
An approved application is required for Jazzy's adoption. Her adoption fee is $250 to cover veterinary expenses. For more information on Jazzy, please call 661 943-4888.

ADOPTED!!
Curly is a very sweet 6 year old red and white smooth piebald girl who is a bit on the chunky side right now, weighing in at 14 lbs. Curly is a mini and should weigh no more than 11 or 12 lbs. Curly is in a new foster home where she is going to get less food and more walks in order to trim down her waistline. Then she will be even more beautiful. Curly loves to be held and cuddled and really enjoys going for walks. She is up to date on shots and is spayed.
Curly gets along with other dogs if they are not aggressive to her. She rides well in a car when crated. She would make a great addition to any doxie family with respectful children over the age of 6 years old. Curly has not been tested with cats.
An approved application is required for Curly's adoption. Her adoption fee is $175. For more information on Curly, please call 661 943-4888.

ADOPTED!!
Dodger is a very handsome black and tan boy who is no more than 2 years old, probably less. Dodger's family brought him to the local kill shelter where we were lucky enough to get him out. Now Dodger needs a new forever home.
He is healthy, up to date on shots, neutered, micro chipped, walks on a leash, rides well in the car, but isn't fond of cats or young children. He may have been mistreated by young kids in his previous home and may have been picked on by bigger dogs at the shelter.
Dodger would work best in a home with a female doxie to play with. He's afraid of larger dogs. He would also be ok in an only dog home. He's a very sweet loving boy.
An approved application is required for Dodger's adoption. For more information you can call me at 661 943-4888. Dodger's adoption fee is $225.

ADOPTED!!
This beautiful mini boy, Cisco, is 3 years old and ended up in the local kill shelter. Not only is he handsome, but he's very loving and sweet. He gets along well with other dogs but is a bit shy at first. He weighs 10lbs, is up to date on shots and is neutered. He is learning to walk on a leash in his Hug-a-Dog harness and rides well in the car. Cisco needs a secure fenced in yard and another doxie close in age to keep him company. No families with toddlers please.

ADOPTED!!
Meet Freddie. He is a 4 month old red smooth boy who was purchased by someone from a pet store who realized very quickly she'd made a mistake and was not ready or set up for a new dog. So, she gave him away and luckily he's now in rescue where his next home will be carefully selected.
Apparently Freddie spent most of his 4 months confined in cages and crates because when he was released into a nice big yard, he ran, and hopped and ran some more. He thought he'd died and gone to heaven. Freddie is very sweet, very high energy, at least right now, having just discovered freedom. He gets along with other dogs and would be a great companion for another young, very playful, dog.
Freddie is neutered and up to date on shots. He rides well in the car but gets car sick on curvy roads. He requires house training which his foster mom is working on. For now he's been paper trained. He is also crate trained.

ADOPTED!!
Stevie is a very handsome red smooth large tweenie who ended up in the shelter. There was no question that I would get him out and find him a new home. The shelter never said anything was wrong with Stevie, but when I brought him home, I noticed he was bumping into things. After continuing to watch him, I discovered he is blind. How sad for Stevie because he is very sweet and very smart. He's learning to use the doggie door after less than one day. He lets you know when he wants to go out and when he wants to come back in. He appears to be housebroken and it won't take him long to learn his way around a new home. If you continue to call him, he will follow you wherever you go and if you stay close to him so he can smell your leg he'll go anywhere you take him.
Stevie weighs about 18 lbs, is neutered and up to date on shots. He gets along with other dogs and since he can't see, he'd probably be ok with cats too. He would not do well in a home with stairs.
Stevie is a very special boy who needs a special home. If you truly want to "rescue" a dog who will give you lots of love in return, consider adopting Stevie. He's quite the character.

ADOPTED!!
This is Tess, a 1 1/2 year old small standard long hair who appears to have some chocolate doxie in her genes based on her brown nose. Tess has a sad story. The man she loved most in the world ended up in jail. The man's wife has a disease and her own service dog and cannot take care of Tess. So Tess is very sad, very scared and very shy. But once she comes out of all the confusion going on in her life, losing her home and the person she loved the most, Tess will be an awesome loving dog.
Tess weighs about 18 lbs, is spayed and up to date on shots. She gets along with other dogs but needs an all adult home. She is learning to use a doggie door, not something she's ever had before. Tess does not like being crated but instead loves sleeping in the big bed. She rides perfectly in the car even uncrated.

ADOPTED!!
Snitzle is a young red smooth doxie who was found wandering in the desert area. The lady who found him spent a month trying to find his home. She put ads in the paper, checked for a micro chip and went door to door in her neighborhood but was not able to find anyone who claimed him. So she contacted rescue to ask if I would take him and find him a new forever home. The lady has other large dogs, one of whom did not like Snitzle so it was a stressful situation where Snitzle and the other dog, a German Shephard, could not be together inside or out.
Snitzle was not neutered when found but has been neutered since he came into rescue. He is now updated on all his shots. He weighs about 12 lbs and my best guesstimate is that he is no more than 3 years old if he's that old.
Snitzle is a sweet boy who likes affection but doesn't seem to have gotten much in the past. He's a bit on the thin side possibly from living on his own. Snitzle has a lot of energy and needs a young playmate to run around a yard with. He doesn't appear to like cats.

ADOPTED!!
Oliver is a very beautiful 5 month old black and tan long hair pup whose owner gave him to rescue. He will probably grow into a tweenie, weighing between 14 & 15lbs. Oliver's father was also adopted from this rescue so we know what Oliver will look like when he is full grown. Oliver is very sweet and very loveable. He loves to be held and cuddled. But make no mistake, he is a puppy. He needs lots of supervision, training to get him housebroken, and lots of time and attention. He would not be happy alone but would like a younger dog to play with. Oliver does well going potty outside when he smells where the other dogs have gone. He's crate trained for night time and up to date on shots. He has learned to use the doggie door. He will be neutered before his adoption. He will not be adopted to a family with toddlers.

ADOPTED!!
Alex is a 4 year old male piebald who ended up in the local kill shelter. Alex is a beautiful boy who may have had a good home at one time that he misses very much and is so starved for the affection he may have once known. He was neutered when he was brought to the shelter so we know he had a home at one time and probably someone who loved him. Alex is up to date on shots, micro chipped, neutered and gets along with other dogs. He doesn't seem interested in the cats in his foster home either.
Alex likes to go for walks, and rides quietly in the car. He will make a wonderful pet in his new forever home.

ADOPTED!!
This is Roger, and this is his story. Roger is a 2 1/2 year old mini long hair dapple. Roger is a good boy and did nothing wrong. But the economy hit Roger's family and they are forced to move into an apartment. All the apartments that allowed pets were just too expensive. Roger's family also has one young child and a baby on the way. So it seemed there was just no time left to spend with Roger and no way to afford a place where they could keep him. So his family lovingly gave him to rescue.
Roger is a very sweet, very easy going laid back boy who is not only good with kids, he's used to living with cats.
Roger is neutered, up to date on shots and housebroken. He uses a doggie door. He's also crate trained but likes sleeping in the big bed at his foster home. Although Roger is good with kids, he will not be adopted to a family with toddlers.
The only thing Roger needs now is a home that will make him a permanent member if the family no matter what life's turns take. He needs to be as important as any child without a chance of his family ever letting him go. Roger will not do well in an apartment as he is used to a house with a secure yard.

ADOPTED!!
Teddy is a 1 year old long hair doxie who ended up in the local kill shelter. He is so loveable, starved for affection and is looking for a good loving home. He is underweight and his ears were knotted but he will clean up nicely and make a wonderful pet. He is a very happy playful boy now that he's out of the shelter. Because he was neglected, he will need some training but once he's trained he will be worth the time and effort. Teddy is a great, quiet traveler in the car. Teddy would like another doxie to play with.

ADOPTED!!
This is little Cookie (formally known as Cocoa Bean). She is 8 months old, long and skinny, very affectionate but very skittish and very shy. Cookie was taken from her mother way too early in her life so she did not learn the confidence that well-bred pups learn. But that doesn't stop her from being very sweet and loveable. She loves to curl up in your lap, is nervous around other dogs but, if they don't bother her, she learns to accept them. She is learning to live with dogs in her foster home and finding out they won't hurt her. Since she is only 8 months old she needs to learn to walk on a leash, needs work on her potty training because she was kept mostly outdoors by herself. She has already learned how to use the doggie door. Once she is spayed she may calm down and not be such a little nervous nelly. Cookie needs a calm quiet home with no young children to scare her.

Ruby Red is a 2 year old gorgeous red smooth female who somehow landed in the shelter. She was actually already spayed and someone took good care of this girl. How she lost her home is the question.
Ruby is very sweet and loving. She's calm and gets along with other dogs but prefers males and prefers doxies. She is housebroken and uses a doggie door. She is just one magnificent dog and whoever adopts her will be the lucky one. Ruby needs a house and a yard and will not do well in an apartment.

ADOPTED!!
Joey is a 2 year old red male doxie whose owners had to give him up due to medical and other problems. Joey was kept outside so started out a little bashful when we brought him into rescue. But now that he's been in his foster home surrounded by people, he is a happy boy and ready for a new home of his own where he will not stay outside. Joey weighs about 14 lbs, is neutered and up to date on shots. He loves to play and will fetch his toy and return it.
Joey rides good in the car, is learning it's fun to take walks on a leash and gets along with other dogs.

ADOPTED!!
Star is a loving 7? year old, 12 pound longhaired red. Her fur is super soft and will be even prettier when it gets a little longer. She is calm, sweet, loving and cuddly. She's just a great dog and would be the perfect companion to an older Doxie or to someone who is home much of the time. She just had her shots and has been spayed and had her teeth cleaned. She appears to be housetrained and has not had one accident in the house. She's an alpha female and a bit possesive of her things so she would be best placed with an easy-going dog. She's crate trained but prefers to sleep with her human.

ADOPTED!!
This is Bella. She is a 2 1/2 year old blue dapple wirehair mini doxie. Bella is one of 6 dogs turned over to rescue from a breeder who is being forced to give up her dogs who are living in less than ideal conditions. Bella is a very sweet girl and will be spayed, groomed and up to date on shots prior to her adoption. Bella would love to be a part of a family, learn to walk on a leash, go for rides and have the life a sweet doxie like Bella should have.
Bella cannot go to a family with small children or a house with stairs as she has a weak back. She walks with a wobble but she gets around just fine and runs all over the yard. She cannot be allowed to jump and would enjoy being carried.
For more information on Bella, call 661 943-4888 in the PM or on week ends. An approved application is required for Bella's adoption. Her adoption fee is $200.

ADOPTED!!
Meet Cosmo. He is a beautiful long hair brindle doxie mix. He is one year old and about the size of a standard doxie. He has a long doxie body, short legs but his snout is a little shorter than a doxie's normally is. Cosmo is very sweet but appears to not have had any affection or attention in his past. With lots of love and attention Cosmo will make a wonderful pet. He is currently underweight and needs to gain a few pounds. He should top out at about 20lbs when filled out. He will be a great family dog. He rides well in the car, likes to go for walks and more than likely will need some housetraining since he's young and probably didn't get enough attention in is previous home to be housebroken. Cosmo is neutered and micro chipped.

ADOPTED!!
This is Lily She's a very sweet red smooth doxie who was in the kill shelter running out of time. No one wanted Lily because she only has one eye. But Lily doesn't know she has a flaw. She knows she's beautiful anyway and is a very loving affectionate girl. She just wants someone special to love her back. Lily weighs about 13 lbs, is spayed, micro chipped and will have her teeth cleaned before she's adopted. The shelter says she is about 4 or 5 years old. It looks like she's had babies but her baby making days are over. She just wants to be someone's loving pet. Lily gets along with other dogs and uses the doggie door.
Based on what the vet says would be best for Lily, we may have to have her eye removed and sewn shut. If so, we will be asking for donations for Lily's medical care.

This is Danny, a super cute, 1 1/2 year old tiny smoth red Dapple. He has beautiful dark amber eyes with dark eyelashes. Very sweet, calm, and likes everyone. He is skinny at 9 pounds and needs to gain a little. We are working on housetraining which will improve now that he's neutered. He's up to date on shots and his teeth have been cleaned. He's not a barker but he's a great hunter so we would not want to place him in a home with cats, rodents or birds. We do not know how he is with children. He's crate trained but much prefers the big bed.

This is Monty, a sweet and precious boy whose owners took him to the shelter to be euthanized because they were moving!! He definitely didn't deserve to die at their convenience and he certainly deserves a better home that will cherish him.
Monty is a 6 year old black and tan long-hair mini doxie who weighs about 12 lbs. He is neutered, up to date on shots, housebroken and crate trained. He is a real love. He has a long silky coat, likes to go for walks, gives kisses and gets along with other dogs. He is very sweet and deserves a home where he will be loved and spoiled.

ADOPTED!!
This is beautiful Buddy Boy. He is a 3 year old black and tan long hair tweeny weighing in at 15 lbs. His breeder asked me to take Buddy because he was too large for the dogs she wants to breed. I agreed to take Buddy and he was neutered the same day. So now he's finished working making puppies and ready to be someone's wonderful companion. Not only is Buddy beautiful, but he is as sweet as he can be. He loves to give kisses, loves lots of attention and is a real people dog. He's also used to children but I will not adopt him to a family with toddlers. Buddy walks great on a leash, rides good in the car, is crate trained, but not crazy about being in a crate. He'd rather be in your lap. Buddy is up to date on shots, has nice white teeth and is a beautiful healthy boy.

ADOPTED!!
This is Crystal Blue. She is a 3 year old double dapple doxie and just as sweet as she can be, not to mention beautiful, too, with her blue eyes. She absolutely loves to be in your lap, she's playful and loves to go for walks. She is spayed and up to date on shots and gets along with other dogs. Crystal's breeder gave her up because none of Crystal's pups survived. So now Crystal is out of the working business and wants to enjoy retirement being loved and cuddled. Crystal will do best in a home where she will get lots of one on one attention because Crystal has one little problem, she's 90% deaf. But she is wonderful just the same.

Winston gets along well with other dogs. He has not been tested with cats or kids yet. He loves sleeping in the big bed but would probably settle for his own bed. Winston will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for an affectionate doxie boy.

ADOPTED!!
This is Calvin. Don't let that white face fool you, this guy has as much energy as a puppy. No slouch this guy. He is a true red smooth mini weighing in at about 9 lbs.
Calvin found himself in the local kill shelter and, of course, because he looks like a senior, no one would adopt him. Calvin runs and plays and is absolutely amazing. We're thinking Calvin must have gotten prematurely gray because he sure doesn't act like a senior. We think Calvin is maybe 8 or 9 years old. He is underweight and weighs 9lbs but needs to put on a pound or so. He probably didn't eat much at the shelter but is currently getting a good diet and eating several times a day. Calvin was never neutered by whoever owned him and although he is neutered now, he would be best in a home with females until his mind realizes he's not a stud anymore. Calvin is a very sweet boy who knows how to use the doggie door and is housebroken. Calvin is healthy and up to date on shots.

ADOPTED!!
This is Buddy. He is a very sad 10 month old light wheaton wire hair doxie whose owner took him to the kill shelter after being ignored in someone's back yard. Buddy may have been an unwanted Christmas gift. Buddy is a very sweet loveable guy who needs a home where he will be loved and appreciated. Buddy weighs about 15 lbs so would be considered a tweenie. He gets along with other dogs, loves to go for walks and rides in the car. He wants to be someone's special boy. Buddy is up to date on shots, is micro-chipped and neutered.
Sad, sad update here.

ADOPTED!!
This is Puppers. He not only needs a new home, he needs a new name. Puppers ended up in a kill shelter. He was adopted 2 months ago but the person who adopted him decided she didn't have time for him, something she should have thought about before she stopped rescue from adopting him from the shelter. When she decided she didn't have time for him, she returned him to the kill shelter for a refund. And now he is with me and he will never be returned to the shelter because finding him the perfect home is my goal.
Puppers weighs about 12 lbs and is an absolutely beautiful deep red doxie boy. He is not much more than a year old. Based on the fact that he has been bounced around so much in his short life already, he has had no consistency, and more than likely no one has taken time to train him in any way. So adopting Puppers would be like adopting a puppy, you have to start from scratch with lots of love and patience.
Puppers loves to go for walks, gets along with friendly, non-aggressive dogs although he didn't like a Chihuahua who pounced on him and wanted to eat the Pit Bull at the dog park. Good luck with that Puppers.
Puppers is a very sweet loveable boy who needs a young playmate and an active lifestyle at his young age. He can handle long walks/runs. Puppers would be great with a young small girlfriend to play with. He needs a very secure yard and a home with lots of love and patience who's willing to turn him in to the fabulous dog he can be. He is young enough to learn anything.

ADOPTED!!
This is Danny. He is a 2 year old black and tan neutered male who is in need of a new forever home. Danny is loved very much in his current home, but his mom feels with a full time job, busy evenings and no other dogs, that Danny is not happy and is living a lonely life. She feels Danny would be happier in a home with more attention and possibly another dog to keep him company.
Danny is an awesome dog. He is laid back, easy going, loves everyone including kids and other dogs. He is truly a beautiful boy and will make a great companion dog. He loves to go for walks and loves to ride in the car. He is up to date on all his shots.

ADOPTED!!
This is Tawny (formerly known as 'Penny'). We don't know what crime she committed to end up in the local shelter, but end up there she did. But now she's out and looking for a real forever home.
Tawny is a large tweenie or a small standard who currently weighs about 16 lbs. She is too thin and would need to put on a pound or two, which won't be hard for a doxie. Tawny is 2 years old, up to date on shots and spayed, of course.
Since Tawny just came out of the shelter, we don't know if she's housebroken, gets along with other dogs, cats, etc. She is currently in a foster home and as her foster dad learns more about her, we will update her bio.

ADOPTED!!
Torrey is a 5 year old beautiful long hair lady who was brought to the local kill shelter in terrible condition. Her beautiful long hair was shaved, her toenails were curled into her feet so she couldn't walk, she was overweight and her teeth were in horrid condition.
She wasn't spayed and the poor thing had tumors that needed to be removed. But she has forged ahead and has lost some weight, and is learning how to walk all over again without pain. She has been spayed, had her teeth cleaned and is up to date on her shots.
Torrey is a very low energy lady who would love a calm quiet home to live in with people who will love her and treat her like the lovely lady she is.

Danny is a 2 year old neutered black and tan doxie who ended up in the shelter despite the fact that he appeared to be well-cared for. Danny weighs about 14lbs. He is a happy-go-lucky guy, very sweet, and calm. He loves people and enjoys walking on a leash. He rides well in a car and loves to go bye-bye. Danny has a lot of good qualities not to mention he's a great looking dog. It's hard to believe he ended up in the shelter and no one came for him.

BlackJack is a beautiful 3 year old solid black doxie who was found running scared. Some kind people took him in but unfortunately, Jack didn't like their cats. Jack is a little too thin, timid and shy due to his previous lifestyle but is a loving boy once he earns your trust. He may require some training since it appears no one has ever spent time with him. Jack is neutered and up to date on shots.

ADOPTED!!!
Dudley is approximately 1 year old. He is a standard black and tan boy who ended up in the shelter with some dog fight wounds. Poor Dudley was bandaged up waiting for someone to come and adopt him. Dudley's wounds are all healed now but the experience has left Dudley not liking big dogs. He loves people and is good with kids and is a very sweet boy. Due to his lousy previous life, he probably needs some work on his housebreaking. Dudley is up to date on his shots, enjoys walking on a leash and riding in a car.

ADOPTED!!!
Meet Lily. She is a 3 year old red smooth female who would be considered a large tweenie or a small standard. She's a bit long in the legs but a very sweet girl. Lily lived with her mom and another doxie since she was a puppy in a house with a yard and a doggie door. But recently Lily's family moved to a condo where Lily only had a very small area. Being a young active dog, her lack of exercise made her frustrated. So her owners thought Lily would be happier if she could find another home with a secure yard and a doggie door like she's used to. Lily is spayed, of course, and up to date on her shots. She walks well on a leash and is housebroken. She is a very sweet girl, but doesn't like cats.

She is a red smooth female, is up to date on all her medical needs, shots, teeth cleaning etc. She is spayed and likes to go for walks on a leash and rides well in the car. Her favorite thing is sleeping on someone's lap or laying beside her person on the couch. Holly gets along well with other dogs. She is a bit vision and hearing impaired. Holly has a good appetite but her favorite thing is chicken. She knows how to use a doggie door and is crate trained.

ADOPTED!!
Jumpin' Jazzy is a 2 year old red smooth 8 lb mini with black over lay. She is absolutely the sweetest most affectionate dog and wants to be in your lap all the time. But Jazzy wasn't appreciated by whoever had her because she had to chew through a wire cable attached to a heavy clip to get out of her hellish life and run away. She was found by a caring dog lover who took her to the vet to attempt to find her home. No one came to claim her so Jazzy was turned over to rescue to find her a new and loving home.
Jazzy is spayed, up to date on shots, teeth cleaned and ready for a new home. Jazzy gets along with other dogs and jumps and jumps to get up in your lap. Be prepared for a dog that wants to be held all the time which is easy since she weighs so little. Jazzy snuggles up and just wants the love she has been missing.

ADOPTED!!
Honey is a a 3 year old standard wheaton wire Dachshund who weighs about 21 lbs. Honey has lived her entire life in a breeding kennel and is very, very shy. She is a sweet girl but needs a calm quiet home where they will be patient with her and give her time to learn to trust, work with her housebreaking training, and to come out of her shell and be the wonderful sweet loving dog she really wants to be. Honey is not used to walking on a leash but is eager to learn and will enjoy being a house dog in the right home. Honey would not be good in a home with young children as she is too bashful. Honey is spayed and up to date on shots.
(Honey was formerly known as "Betty")

ADOPTED!!
Twitch was taken to the local shelter by his homeless owner who could no longer care for him. The twinkle in his eye and the smile on his face told us he was a special boy. Twitch is a 5 1/2 year old standard dapple wire hair Dachshund who loves everybody. He is absolutely the sweetest boy. Twitch weighs 24 lbs and needs to lose at least 4 lbs. While in foster care he will get a more sensible diet than he's probably been getting and will lose weight easily. Of course, Twitch is neutered.
Twitch gets along with other dogs, loves people and enjoys going for walks or riding in the car. He knows how to use the doggie door. He's just an all around happy sweet boy.

ADOPTED!!
Barney is a 3 year old standard wheaton wire Dachshund who has lived his life in a kennel used for breeding. Barney is now neutered, up to date on shots and ready to learn how to be a housedog and a pet. Barney weighs about 31 lbs and is a beautiful dog. He is outgoing, playful, loves to play ball, and likes well behaved kids who will not pull his ears or his tail. He gets along with other dogs. Barney likes going for rides in the car. He is not used to walking on a leash but is eager to learn. Since he's lived in a kennel all his life, Barney needs help with his housebreaking so he needs a loving patient home where they are willing to make Barney the best dog he can be.

Bosco is a red smooth male between 2 and 3 years old, up-to-date on shots, and neutered. Bosco found himself in the shelter where he was crammed in with many other dogs. Because Bosco wasn't able to get his share of the food, he got very skinny in the 6 days he was there. Bosco loves to play with other dogs and would love to live in a house with a playmate. Bosco may need some help with his housebreaking. He is bashful, but once in a comfortable home will be a wonderful cuddly loveable boy when he has a family to love him. Bosco is learning to walk on a leash and is good riding in the car.

ADOPTED!!
Roxy is a one year old black and tan tweenie with a beautiful white patch on her chest. Roxy's owners meant well but they didn't give Roxy any of the things she needed to become a well-balanced happy dog. Roxy lived in an apartment with no yard and never got taken for walks, was not spayed and was not given the attention she needed. Therefore, Roxy became shy, nervous, skittish and unsocialized. But she is very sweet when she knows she can trust you, loves to go for walks and is absolutely worth working with. Roxy needs a family who will give her a brand new beginning with a secure yard, nice walks where she can be around people and other dogs to learn there is nothing to be afraid of. A submissive male doxie would be a good companion for Roxy. Roxy rides great in the car, gives kisses and is a very sweet bashful girl.

| ADOPTED!! |

Hello! I'm Molly!
|
We are 6 month old brother and sister doxies and we are as cute as can be. We started out in a pet store in Colorado and stayed there for months until a very nice lady came along and just couldn't stand seeing us cooped up in there anymore and "got us freed". She put us on a plane and brought us to CA with her and gave us to a nice rescue lady. Now we are looking for our permanent home. Like I said, we are very cute and we just love running and playing and playing and running. We like to wrestle, too. We put anything we find into our mouths so the nice rescue lady moves everything up out of our way. We also have to learn to only potty outside. The nice rescue lady is showing us how. We would love a home and a family of our own with a nice fenced in yard to run and play.
If you are interested in adopting us, please fill out an application. Our adoption fee is $450 for both of us (we are way too attached to one another and cannot be separated).
We have been spayed and neutered, heartworm checked-both of us are negative-and are up-to-date on all of our shots (ouch). We are all ready to entertain a new family, as only puppies can. We will make you laugh. But keep in mind, the rescue lady said we are a lot of work and need lots of time and attention to become really good grown up doxies. Isn't that what everyone wants?

And my name is Joey! Hi!

ADOPTED!!
Toby is a 7 year old neutered male whose current owner works long hours and is no longer able to care for him. Toby is now having to stay outdoors at a relative's house and it's getting cold in the evenings. Toby is a long tweenie and weighs about 16 lbs. He is the sweetest boy and travels perfectly in a crate in a car. He walks well on a leash and really loves being an indoor dog and sleeping in the big bed.
Toby is up to date on shots and in excellent health. He has a beautiful soft coat, gets along with other dogs and is an all around great dog.

ADOPTED!!
Hershey is a beautiful chocolate and tan long hair male mini doxie who was rescued from the shelter approximately 2 years ago and adopted to a young couple. The couple now have a new baby and Hershey is not behaving well around it.
Hershey is approximately 3 years old, he's housebroken, gets along and lives with other doxies and larger breed dogs. He loves to ride in the car and is an all-around great little dog. However, he doesn't like babies. Hershey needs a home with no young children under 10 years old and not a home with a young couple who plan on having children in the future.

ADOPTED!!
Tanner is a male doxie between 2 and 3 years old. He is neutered and up-to-date on shots. He is either 95% doxie or a poorly bred long hair doxie. Tanner is housebroken and is ok with kids.

ADOPTED!!
Chip & Beau were transported from Texas and have ended up in 4 different rescues without securing a home. They are very timid and shy but absolutely wonderful boys. They are totally bonded and cannot be separated. One is 3 years old and the other is 5 years old. They are neutered and updated on shots. They need a calm, quiet, special home with no young children. One is more outgoing than the other and it will take time for the one to come around but in the right home with lots of TLC, in time he will.

ADOPTED!!
Princess is a red smooth spayed female approximately 5-6 years old. She is very sweet and friendly, gets along with other dogs. She is up to date on her shots, rides well in the car, but seems to be very selective about the home she chooses to be in.
Princess was adopted out of a shelter a year ago by a senior couple who later felt they could no longer care for her so brought her back to the shelter. Although Princess is friendly, she doesn't warm up to everyone. She's kind of standoffish with certain people. Princess requires a home with a doggie door or in a home where someone is home with her all the time.
As Princess is so selective about where she wants to live, and has behavioral issues if she's not happy, a trial stay may be required.

Freckles and Fritz
are 5 year old piebald littermates. Their family is moving so they were given up at the local shelter. They weigh about 10 lbs and are very sweet cuddly boys. They are neutered and up to date on shots. They like to go for rides, go for walks and play with a tennis ball. They may need some potty training since it's possible they were kept as outdoor dogs.
They can be adopted together or separately. If adopted separately, they need to be placed in a home with another doxie or small dog for a companion since they've never been an only dog.

| SPECIAL NEEDS DOXIE!! |
|
ADOPTED!!
Penny was found as a stray in April of this year walking. Two ladies found her and told the Santa Maria shelter that they were going to keep her. One month later she couldn't walk so the ladies surrendered her to the shelter. She is actually microchipped and it was traced back to a breeder in Florida who sold her to a petstore. The breeder is no longer in business so it was probably a puppy mill :( Penny was foster at the shelter for awhile and then they asked AFRP if we could. An organization down there raised money for her wheelchair. I have had her for about 3 weeks. I was told to induce her about every 4-5 hours and that way she doesn't have accidents. (She still does sometimes though) She sleeps in her crate at night and rides very well in the car. She likes dogs and cats. She like children and women but is scared of men. I am fostering her in Watsonville, Ca. She only uses her wheelchair when we go outside or to Petsmart :) Around the house she gets along just fine dragging herself. She is 2 years old and weighs 9lbs. She is going to be spayed and have a dental this Wednesday

ADOPTED!!
Pepper is a 2 year old doxie mix female with a very high energy level. Pepper's owner has moved into a new place that is too confining for Pepper's energy. She needs a nice size yard to run and play in. Pepper is spayed and up to date on shots. She gets along with other dogs and some cats but not all. It depends on the cat.

|
ADOPTED!!
Lincoln is a very nice looking boy approximately 4 years old. He was found roaming in a rural area near here by the staff of an animal hospital. All attempts to locate his owner failed, so the vet called rescue rather than taking him to the local shelter. Lincoln must have had a good home because he appears to be well cared for and housebroken. He is in excellent health. Lincoln is neutered and up-to-date on shots. He weighs about 15 lbs. and is a l-o-n-g doxie.
|
|
No information is known at this time if Lincoln gets along with children or cats, but he does get along great with other doxies. He walks well on a leash and loves go-for-a-rides, during which he is well-behaved.
An experienced doxie home would be preferred for Lincoln. He growls when approached by strangers but is friendly once he feels comfortable with you. He would not be good in a house with children, where his growling might be misinterpreted.

|
ADOPTED!!
Lucky, affectionately called Ducky because he waddles, is a 10 year old neutered long hair male whose owner dumped him at the shelter in terrible condition. More than one person had tears in their eyes when they saw him. Lucky has been in foster care for about a month and he is feeling a whole lot better than before. His missing hair is growing back, his teeth have been cleaned and his sores are all healed and gone. He is up-to-date on shots and has had x-rays to rule out any serious problems.
|
Lucky is such a sweet, loveable boy, he's no trouble, he's neutered, housebroken if access to outside is easy. He cannot manipulate a difficult doggie door. Lucky loves to spend his days sleeping in a nice cushy doggie bed but at night prefers the big bed.
If you have room in your heart and your home, please consider giving Lucky a loving home to spend his senior years. |
|
|
ADOPTED!!
Ronny is an absolutely beautiful one year old red smooth doxie who should weigh about 13 or 14 lbs. He is very underweight and very, very scared. He seems to have been mistreated, therefore, is extremely shy. Now that he is in rescue he will come out of his shell and learn about the "good life". Ronny is neutered and up-to-date on shots. He is very sweet but needs a calm quiet environment in order for him not to be a nervous dog. He is learning to be held and loved and seems to enjoy it so far.
|
|
Ronny probably needs work on his housebreaking since his previous owners didn't seem to do anything right with him. In the proper home, Ronny will be a wonderful dog. No information is known at this time whether he gets along with cats or kids but he does get along with other doxies. (For the record, that is not blood on Ronny's head.)

ADOPTED!!
Dolly is an 8 year old black and tan female who found herself in the local shelter through no fault of her own. Dolly is very sweet and shy. Nothing is known about her past history, possibly her owner passed away and no family member wanted to take her in.
Dolly is spayed, up-to-date on shots and housebroken.

|
|
ADOPTED!!
Rascal is a 6 year old black and tan boy whose owner passed away leaving all of her dogs homeless. Rascal and Melissa are buddies but can be adopted separately. Rascal needs to be in an only dog home or with females only due to the fact that he was not neutered until recently and he is competitive with other males. He wants the girls all to himself. I think Rascal is a smooth although his coat is very rough and in poor condition so he could be a wire. A few weeks of good food and vitamins will improve his coat so we can tell what he is for sure. Rascal was kept outside so he does need some work on his housebreaking issues.
Rascal is very sweet, loves to sit up and beg, is great in the bath, and loves attention. He is also fine around kids. He is up-to-date on shots and has had his teeth cleaned.

|
|
ADOPTED!!
Doobie is a beautiful 2 year old smooth piebald who has spent his life outdoors. He only weighs between 8 and 9 lbs but his ideal weight would be about 11 lbs. His owner recently died leaving Doobie and 3 other doxies, all unspayed and unneutered, homeless. All the dogs were severly neglected and all ended up in the local shelter.
Doobie is very affectionate and gets along well with 2 of the 3 dogs he was with but is competitive for the female's attention with one of the other males. He would best be placed in a home with females or no other dogs unless tested with another male. Doobie enjoys attention and is ready to start a new life as an indoor well-cared-for dog. Due to living outdoors his entire life, Doobie needs work on his housebreaking issues. Doobie is neutered and up-to-date on shots.

|
ADOPTED!!
Alex (shown here fresh from a much-needed bath) is a beautiful 4 year old long hair dapple boy whose owner died leaving him homeless. Alex weighs about 9 lbs but his ideal weight should be about 11 pounds. Alex is shy and reserved but enjoys affection once he comes around. TLC is just not something he's used to but he's sure willing to learn. Alex is a sweet boy who needs a calm, quiet home where he can learn to be an indoor dog. Due to not being neutered earlier and living outdoors, he's never been taught housebreaking skills. He needs love and patience and lots of good nourishment to be the beautiful dog he can be. Alex is now neutered and up-to-date on shots.

ADOPTED!!
Ginger & Gilligan are two very sweet 6 year old littermates who are in need of a new home. Mom & Dad work all day and are gone on week ends and just don't have enough time to spend with these precious babies. They are friendly, healthy, spayed & neutered, housebroken, up to date on shots and get along with other dogs, people and kids. They are truly 2 special little well behaved doxies. They have always been together so cannot be separated. They currently have a very large yard so would need a home with a fenced yard. They know how to use a doggie door. These dogs would be wonderful company for anyone who has time to spend with them. |

|
ADOPTED!!
Pudge is a very sweet female approximately 6 years old. She has had several names but her foster home is currently calling her Pudge because she is a tad overweight.
Pudge was dumped at a shelter to be put to sleep, but a local rescue felt she was worth saving and adopted her out and called Dachshund Rescue. Pudge has been tested to make sure her weight problem is not a medical issue and that she just needs to "cut back". Pudge is spayed, up to date on all her shots and has had her teeth cleaned. They were really yucky.
She does need some work on her housebreaking issues and we think she may have been kept outside and never allowed to be a house dog. Now that she's inside, she wants to stay inside. She loves sharing a recliner with her foster dad. She is very much a lap dog.
Pudge will make someone a wonderful & loving companion. With a good healthy diet and lots of love, Pudge will shine.
SAD UPDATE: Not long after her foster home adopted her, sweet Pudge went to The Rainbow Bridge.

ADOPTED!!
Priscilla is a very beautiful, slightly overweight, 2 year old doxie who appears to have been well cared for prior to finding herself in the local shelter. She was wearing a pretty collar and we thought for sure her family would come for her but no one did.
Priscilla is very sweet, friendly, outgoing, loves to go for rides, uses a doggie door, gets along well with other dogs and is just an all-around wonderful, sweet and very beautiful girl. We have no knowledge of how Priscilla is with cats. Based on her personality so far, she may be ok with kids.
Priscilla's perfect weight should be around 16 or 17 lbs, however, she is a bit chunky and is working on a healthier diet to trim her down.

ADOPTED!!
Banana is an approximately 8 month old precious little girl who found herself in the local shelter. Banana (Nana for short) is very sweet, gets along with other dogs, loves to go for rides and walk on a leash. Nana is still in her puppy stages so she needs toys to chew on, and a home where they will continue with her housetraining. She will use a doggie door and will go to the door to be let out. Nana likes to sleep in the big bed. She is playful and still has a lot of puppy in her so needs a home with another playful dog and a family who has time to spend with her and continue her training.

ADOPTED!!
Sandy is a two year old mini long hair boy who ended up in the local shelter. Sandy is very underweight but will fill out with a good diet at his foster home. Sandy is very loving, very calm and very, very sweet. He gets along well with other dogs, and even though he has been neglected, he hasn't lost his faith in humanity. He still loves people. Sandy should weigh about 11 or 12 lbs at his perfect weight.

ADOPTED!!
Susie and Jessie's 75 year old mommy is dying of cancer and they desperately need to find a new home. They are 4 year old Dachshund/Chihuhua mix siblings. Altered and current on all shots, they have been very well taken care of. They need a home together.
Because of the nature of this disease we're not sure how much longer their mommy has. But we do know it is getting harder & harder for her to take care of them. She's afraid if she dies her kids will end up in a shelter because she has no family.
This is a desperate situation adding so much more stress on someone who is already dying. If you can find room in your home and your heart for these sweet dogs, please help.

ADOPTED!
Dappy is a beautiful 3 1/2 year old male dapple who was given up by the only home he's ever known because his owner is terminally ill.
Dappy is very insecure and because he was very spoiled by his previous owner, he very much prefers women. We tried adopting Dappy to a home with a male owner and it didn't work out. Dappy is fine with my husband so he may be selective about the men in his life. Dappy gets along with other dogs, is housebroken, doggie door trained and does tricks when given treats.

|
ADOPTED!
Dobbie was found about a year ago, wandering in the street, by a nice, elderly couple. Dobbie (pronounced “Dough-Bee”) had a big, nasty wound on his side, as if a bigger dog had bitten him. They rushed him to the emergency hospital and got him all fixed up. Now he’s all better, but he’ll always have a scar on his side. His new parents wanted to keep him, but as they live on a fixed income, they just couldn’t afford a dog. They contacted Dachshund Rescue and asked us to find a good home for their little boy.
Dobbie is so smart! In only three days, he’s already learned “sit” and “stop” (for barking), and he’s completely housetrained. An active, lively dog, Dobbie is great on his harness and leash and loves walks with his human, “goferarides” in the car and trips to the dog park. He’s very affectionate and loves to snuggle in a lap and give lots of kisses. Unlike some rescued dogs, Dobbie loves men, so he really wants a Daddy. He’d also like a Mommy, but won’t complain if there isn’t one available. Dobbie doesn’t know how to play with toys or other dogs, but he loves chewing his rawhide bone and spending time with his foster brothers. He also likes exploring and burying his bone in a yard, so his ideal home should have a fenced-in outdoor area.
Neutered with current vaccinations, Dobbie needs to lose about 5 lbs., but otherwise is in excellent health, with a soft, shiny coat. He should not live with cats, children or big dogs, but he’d love a non-dominant brother or sister that is just his size or smaller. He can also be an only dog for a human who is home most of the day. Although he enjoys sleeping curled up in his bed, he has recently discovered how nice it is to sleep in the big bed with his foster parents.

ADOPTED!
Jesse was running the streets and was almost hit by a car. Luckily for Jesse, a Dachshund experienced person recognized him as a Doxie and pulled over to try to get him to come to her. He was a little shy but is a very sweet, loving boy. Jesse is a very rare, very dark brindle. His brindle may be so dark, it's formed a solid color. Whatever, Jesse is a rare and beautiful boy. His pictures don't do him justice.
Jesse is approximately 18 months old, neutered, up-to-date on shots, good with other dogs and has not been tested with cats. He needs a home with a very secure yard as he is an escape artist. He would be best in a home with a family who is home a lot of the time. If confined alone, Jesse will get out and go look for his people.

ADOPTED!
Slinky is a 1 1/2 year old mini black and tan neutered male who's family had to give him up. Slinky is housebroken and up to date on shots. Slinky sits up and begs, says his prayers, gives high 5's, spins in both directions and loves to play with a ball. Slinky gets along with other dogs and a preferable home for Slinky would be one with another young doxie for him to play with. Slinky is fine with children but will not be adopted to a home with children under 6 years of age.

ADOPTED!
Toots is a beautiful brindle one year old female doxie who's owners turned her in to the local shelter when they could no longer care for her. Toots weighs about 11 or 12 pounds and is a very sweet girl. She gets along with some dogs but others she growls at so she needs to be in a home with no other dogs or just one calm quiet dog. There is no knowledge of whether or not she gets along with cats. She seems to be fine with children.

ADOPTED!
Benny is a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix who is approximately 3 years old. He was rescued from the shelter on his last day. He is neutered and up to date on shots and will have his teeth cleaned prior to his adoption. Benny gets along well with other dogs, is fine with cats but we are told he is not good with children. He has not yet been tested with kids in his foster home. Benny was thin and bloated when he came from the shelter but appears to be healthy now.

ADOPTED! Augie has some Beagle or Bassett in him but his body is that of a Dachsie. His read is a beautiful light, strawberry red. Augie is no more than a year old, weighs about 15 lbs., gets along great with other dogs, is fine with cats and based on his sweet affectionate personality, we believe he will be ok with kids. Augie was found as a stray and more than likely left outside and not taught much of anything. He has already learned how to use the doggie door and is working on his housebreaking habits. Augie will be neutered and up to date on shots prior to his adoption.

ADOPTED! Buddy is a 5 year old black and tan standard male who is vision impaired. Although Buddy can't see very well, he loves to chase and fetch his toy and bring it back for you to throw again. He finds his toy every time by smell. Buddy is a sweet boy but needs to be in a home with no other dogs. He currently lives in a home with cats and has no problem with the cats but sometimes gets agressive with other dogs when they get too close. Buddy is housebroken and gets around very well including in and out of a doggie door.

ADOPTED! Gracie is a 6 year old brownish red with black overlay, spayed female who wore out her welcome at her previous home. Gracie was adopted 5 years ago by a couple with no children. Three years ago the first "new arrival" showed up and recently a second. Either Gracie is not getting the attention she once got and is jealous or she just isn't happy sharing her home with 2 babies. Either way, Gracie has started nipping the 3 year old, and whether it's Gracie's fault or not, Gracie is the one who had to go. Gracie is now in search of a new forever home, preferably in a home where the childbearing years are in the past. Gracie is a sweet loveable girl, housebroken, travels well, and up to date on shots. She gets along with some dogs. She is a little overweight and a good low fat diet should have her back in excellent shape.

ADOPTED! Silky is a beautiful 2 year old red long hair male. He weighs about 12 lbs and is neutered and up to date on shots. He was found as a stray by a wonderful man who took him in, cut out some of his knots out of his beautiful silky hair, and gave him a bath so he smells nice. Silkly doesn't appear to understand what a loving home is. He is very sweet and loves to give kisses. He gets along with other dogs, is ok with cats, and was fine with a little boy who walked up to him at the vet's office to pet him. Silky is fine in the car and walks on a leash. He appears to be ok with kids but would not be adopted to a family with toddlers.

ADOPTED! Lexus is a 3 1/2 year old red smooth female who's previous owner kept Lexus in a cage nearly all the time. For this reason, Lexus is grossly obese weighing in at 23lbs. An ideal weight for her would be 14 - 16lbs. She is currently on Lite food and should weigh less by the time of her adoption. Her new family must dedicate themselves to her weight loss in order for her to live a long healthy life. Lexus was also hit with newspapers and yelled at all the time. Despite her awful past, she is a sweet, loving, wonderful girl. Lexus enjoys wading in the kiddie pool. She gets along fine with other dogs. No known history of Lexus around young children or cats. Lexus is spayed and will be up to date on shots and have a badly needed teeth cleaning prior to her adoption.

ADOPTED! Griffin is approximately 4 - 5 years old and looks very much like a wire doxie. We think he is mixed with a Jack Russell. Griffin is a very sweet loveable boy who found himself in a kill shelter. Griffin was just recently neutered and is up to date on shots. He gets along well with other dogs, doesn't appear to have any problem with cats and has not been "kid tested" yet. He weighs about 12 lbs, has short legs, and a doxie body with a Jack Russell head and face. He has eyebrows like Andy Rooney. He's an absolute sweetheart.

ADOPTED! Lucy is a 1 1/2 year old mini female doxie with a very unusual color. She actually looks like she's much older than she is due to the silvery gray color of her head, ears and face. Lucy is not spayed yet, but will be prior to her adoption. She will also be up to date on her shots. She is a very sweet calm quiet girl and gets along well with dogs and cats. She lived in a house with a 1 year old baby so she tolerates kids.
