This beautiful girl is Sylvia, Sylvie for short. Sylvie's owner became sick and could no longer care for her 3 doxies, leaving them in the hands of a relative who didn't do a very good job of caring for them. When another relative discovered the dogs filthy, matted and full of foxtails, he rushed them to the groomer. He didn't even know the dogs names. Poor Sylvie already had an infection from one foxtail and the vet removed 2 more. Knowing the dogs would only go back to the same life, the relative relinquished 2 of the 3 doxies to the groomer. The groomer adopted one leaving Sylvie with no place to go. So they called me and I went to take a look at her and she licked my hand and asked me to help her.
Since Sylvie was shaved, I'm not sure if she's going to be a long hair or a soft wire hair Isabella colored doxie. Her beautiful silver coat is very soft, and the end of her tail has long black hair. But her face is definitely a wirehair doxie. Her parents were supposedly wire and long hair.
Sylvie is only 2 years old although she looks older due to her silver gray color. She weighs about 13 lbs and is a very sweet insecure girl who wants to follow her person everywhere and just be a lap dog. She has been spayed and updated on her shots. She is doing excellent with her housetraining and sleeps in a crate at night. She whimpers a little until you let her know you are still close by. When Sylvie's coat grows in, she is going to be one gorgeous girl. Sylvie is ready for a home of her own now where she will be pampered and loved like she may have been before her owner got sick.
An approved application is required for Sylvie's adoption. Her adoption donation is $300. For more information on Sylvie, feel free to call 661 943-4888.

This young guy is Wizard. He was born 2/16/10. But his young puppy months have been spent either in a crate or in a cage first in a horrible filthy place and then with a rescue who had too many dogs to give Wizard the room to run and play that he needed. So I agreed to get him out of a bad situation. Now Wizard is in a foster home with 2 other doxies to play with and a yard to run. That is what he would like forever. Wizard loves people and was very starved for affection when he came here, always wanting to be picked up and held.
Wizard is crate trained since he spent so much of his young life in one. He really doesn't mind his crate at all at night. He is learning to walk on a leash which is all new to him and is doing well with his potty training with supervision. He also seems to get along well with cats. Wizard's legs are longer than a doxie's should be and his ears are shorter than a doxie's should be but he is as sweet and loveable as any doxie could be.
Wizard is up to date on shots and ready for his new forever home. An approved application is required for Wizard's adoption. For more information, fell free to call 661 943-4888. Wizard's adoption fee is $225.

This little guy is Eddy and he is estimated to be about 6 or 7 years old. He was dumped at a kill shelter but I could not let him die with that sweet face. Eddy is nervous and shy so would be best in an only dog home or a home with an older quiet dog. He gets frazzled with too much going on around him. He is living peacefully in a foster home with a cat. He does not like to be confined or crated. He may have had a bad experience with that in his prior life. Eddy is very affectionate, gets along with other dogs and will give his new owner lots of love. Eddy is neutered and up to date on shots. He has a clean bill of health from the vet.
An approved application is required for Eddy's adoption. His adoption fee is $150. For more information on Eddy, feel free to call 661 943-4888 or email me.

Snickers is the friendliest, happiest dog ever to be on Death Row. We pulled him from Lancaster Shelter literally in the nick of time. Deemed dog-aggressive by the owners who turned him in, he has proven them liars with his unfailing friendliness not only to dogs, but to cats, kids, and every person he meets. He is a pure love bug. This lovely, loving fellow can go home to a family with kids, dogs, cats - whatever!
Up-to-date on his vaccinations, he weighs 18 lbs., has a long Red coat tending towards English Cream, and is just as handsome as can be. About four years old, he has a big puppy personality and, like all pups, will need some obedience training in order to stay focused. But unlike all pups, this guy is housebroken! He can hold it forever. But we don't want him to wait another minute for a family who will appreciate him and give him the love he so willingly gives to every creature he meets. Snickers deserves a really loving home.
An approved application is required for Snickers' adoption. For more information on Snickers, feel free to call 661 943-4888 or email me. Snickers' adoption fee is $175.

TEXAS RESCUES
The rescues in Texas do a wonderful job of saving our beloved breed. But sometimes they get so overwhelmed that they can't even save the ones at the shelters and have a waiting list for people wanting to turn their doxies over to rescue. One California rescue, Dachshund Haven of Garden Grove, periodically comes to their rescue (no pun intended) and brings some of the Texas Doxies here where there's a better chance of finding them homes. That is the case with these doxies Carleigh, Alicia, Chipper and Mocha. When a cry for help went out for a transport tto help get hese dogs from Texas to CA, an angel appeared and rented a huge modified motor home to bring 22 Texas Doxies to CA. The dogs were split up between 4 CA Dachshund Rescues who are sharing in finding homes for these beautiful but very scared doxies. Below are the 4 doxies that came to me.
UPDATE 6/24/10 - After only 2 1/2 weeks, these girls have come such a long way from the scared, kennel dogs they were when they came to me. The girls love living in a house and joining the family on the couch and being lap dogs. They have all learned how to use the doggie door and are doing great on their housetraining. I am so proud of all of them for the improvements they've made.

ADOPTED!!
This is Mocha. She is a beautiful long hair chocolate girl who couldn't be sweeter. Due to all the knots in her coat, the groomer shaved all her beautiful hair off. So now she has to wait until winter to show what a beautiful girl she really is.
Mocha was born in January 2008 and may have had a litter of puppies. But she is spayed now and her breedin days are over. She is up to date on shots. Mocha is bashful and shy as all these Texas dogs are and would love to go to a nice calm home with someone to spoil her and make her their baby. Mocha weighs about 11 1/2 lbs. She needs work on her house training after being a kennel dog her whole life. She has not been tested with cats and has not been leash trained yet. She would not be good around small children.
An approved application is required for Mocha's adoption. For more information on Mocha, feel free to call 661 943-4888 or email me. Mocha's donation fee is $275.

ADOPTED!!
This beautiful little girl, Ally, believe it or not, is a gorgeous long hair red with black overlay. Due to the many knots in her coat, the groomer took it upon herself to shave all her hair off. So Ally is cool for the summer and will have to wait for her beautiful coat to grow back in. But when it does, whoever adopts her will be amazingly surprised. Ally was born in January of 2009 and we don't believe she's ever had any pups. She weighs 11 lbs and is very long. She is a bit nervous and skittish at first but is fastly growing to trust people and loves to be loved as all doxies do. She needs work on her housetraining after being a kennel dog. She has not been tested with cats and would not be good around very small children.
An approved application is required for Ally's adoption. For more information on Ally, feel free to call 661 943-4888 or email me. Ally's adoption donation is $275.

This beautiful chocolate smooth girl is Brandy. She was born in January 2008 and is another product of the Texas rescue.
After a 19 hour journey from Texas, Brandy is adjusting well. She is shy but very loving and needs a chance to learn to be a spoiled house doxie. Brandy needs to be potty trained and would not be good around very young children due to being so shy. Older children would be fine. We don't know if Brandy ever had a litter of pups but she is spayed now so her breeding days are over. She just wants to be someone's lap dog. She has not been tested with cats and has not been trained on a leash yet.
An approved application is required for Brandy's adoption. For more information on Brandy, feel free to call 661 943-4888 or email me. Her adoption donation is $275.

ADOPTED!!
Carleigh is a beautiful long hair black and cream doxie and no, your eyes are not deceiving you. Due to all the knots in poor Carleigh's coat, the groomer decided it was best to shave her and start over. So Carleigh's beautiful coat is gone temporarily but will grow back even prettier by the time the cool weather rolls around.
Carleigh was born in March 2009 and lived at a Texas breeder. She weighs 11 lbs and is super sweet. She needs work on her housetraining since she lived a kennel life up to now. Carleigh is shy and needs a home where her family will give her time to get used to what a doxie life should be like. She would not be good around very young children, has not been tested with cats and I have not yet had time to train her on a leash.
An approved application is required for Carleigh's adoption. Her adoption donation is $275. For more information on Carleigh, feel free to call 661 943-4888 or email me.

This sweet boy is Alfie. So far life hasn't been too good to him. He was found wandering the streets by a kind person who took him in but couldn't keep him as she has her own dogs. After 2 weeks of her feeding him regularly, he is still very skinny.
Based on what I have observed of him, I'm guessing he was kept in a back yard as an outdoor dog, was never neutered, probably got no attention and certainly wasn't fed. I think he got so skinny he just slipped out of the yard and was in the hunt for food when this lady found him. His coat is awful from a lack of good nutrition but that will soon change. He was not neutered but will be as soon as he settles in to his foster home and isn't so scared.
He is the sweetest boy who needs to learn that all people aren't bad and that there is a soft heart out there that will love him and give him the comfort and security he needs. And keep his belly full so he's never hungry again.
Alfie is a bit fearful of other dogs when he meets them but will be fine once he knows no one will hurt him. He is a tiny little boy and right now probably weights about 8 lbs. His ideal weight would be about 10 lbs.
Prior to his adoption he will be neutered, up to date on shots and have his teeth cleaned. We think he is about 2 to 3 years old based on the gunk on his teeth.
This little guy deserves a wonderful loving home and will make someone a wonderful companion. An approved application is required for his adoption. His adoption fee is $225.

This handsome boy, Truman, is having a really tough time finding his forever home. Adopted from the shelter in 2006, the person who adopted him could not keep him. He was given to someone else who now has to give him up because of an upcoming move to an apartment that only takes smaller dogs. Truman weighs 20lbs and would not do well in an apartment unless his person is home with him all day.
Truman has exhibited some bad habits but after speaking with his current owner, I can tell that all Truman needs is someone who can spend more time with him and give him some exercise. Truman needs a secure back yard and a doggie door. He does not like being confined, and does not do well crated.
Truman's problems stem from being in homes with no dog experience and no true leadership. He needs a home with some understanding of dogs and their needs. That's not asking for much. However, Truman would be best as an only dog as he does not like sharing his person and likes all the attention for himself.
An approved application is required for Truman's adoption. He is neutered and up to date on shots. For more information, feel free to call me at 661 943-4888 or email me. Truman's adoption fee is $150.
