Dachshund Rescue & Placement is in desperate need of foster homes. We receive many calls from people asking us to take the doxies that they can no longer keep for many different reasons. Some just take their doxies to the local kill shelter hoping they'll get adopted. That's a very risky thing to do assuming someone will save your dog. I try to get the dogs out of the shelter but with no foster homes to put them in, I cannot take them.'

So many people tell me they can not foster because they could not part with the dog once they brought it into their home. But that's really a selfish point of view. Without the help of families who can keep these doxies temporarily, the dogs may very well end up either being put to sleep or in the wrong home if passed off to someone by the owner who can no longer keep it.

Maybe you travel a lot and cannot have a dog on a permanent basis. Fostering would be perfect because you could have the dog only when it's convenient for you. Or, although you'd like to have a dog, you cannot afford one at this time. Fostering solves that problem. All expenses, including food, medical care, etc. are paid for by my rescue.

What it boils down to is this: without foster homes, doxies will die. Please save a life - - apply to foster a dachshund!!
